I recently went to Oklahoma to visit family for my birthday. Dad and Nana (my step mom) insisted that they take Ethan to buy some school clothes and for David and I to have a morning away.
I desperately wanted to go Down Home.
Down Home is about 30-40ish minutes out of Tahlequah, Oklahoma toward Lake Tenkiller.
It's where my family settled after the Trail of Tears. It's where I lived until I was 9 and would come back every other weekend until adulthood.
Granny lived there for a very very very long time. After she passed away in the early fall of 2002, her home passed to one of my cousins.
These pictures are from the first time I visit this site since her funeral in 2002.
More importantly though, it's a picture of a lone 'Naked Lady'.
She used to have a flower bed full of them...now there's just one left.
She said she got the idea from Martha Stewart.
Now that I know who Martha Stewart is,
I don't think she got the idea from her.
(the white spots are where the black paint has flecked off)
That's also the famous propane tank from THIS post.
In the foreground is Dad's land which will be passed down to me at some point.
In the background, you can barely see Granny's front porch.
Granny used to sit out on the front porch with visitors every evening since it faced East and was much cooler than the back porch.
Sadly, this porch is now covered in polk and ivy.

I loved visiting my old home.

I love visiting my Granny's old house.
Some of my best memories are from this place.

I'm sorry, but I laughed OUT LOUD when I read "Now that I know who Martha Stewart is, I dont think thats where she got the idea" Oh my goodness.
