I've finally decided to embrace the fact that I will
never be a graceful, southern lady.
I am, and always will be, a good ol' country girl stuck in the middle of DFW.
For the record, I am totally ok with it.
Seriously.
I'm sure you're all wondering what the differences between a southern lady and a country girl are. Well, I'll tell ya from my backwoods-Okie-turned-city-girl perspective.
1. We both have accents, ours are a little less refined.
2. Manners are important to both groups but country folk really don't see the need for more than one fork per meal. Seriously, you just lick it clean between salad and the main course. Am I right?
3. Country women have no problem going out without make-up on. I spent all day yesterday without make-up and it was glorious.
There are more but all this medication I'm on is keeping me from any sort of rational or funny thoughts.
(i have a sinus infection)
(and i'm whiny)
(and i love sweet tea)

Who would want to give up these kinds of roots?
Beautiful.

I came across your blog while looking for a recipe. Then I read it forward and backward (over the course of a few days, and several hours). I'm finding it very refreshing; you have a good outlook and tremendous faith, and they are good things to have.
I read that you were born in Oklahoma and are native american. That really hit home; my husband is na, Seminole Creek. He was born in Talequah many, many, many (get the drift) moons ago (over a half century). The world is indeed a small place.
If you have a recipe for fry bread, I wish you'd post about it sometime. My husband seems to miss frybread more than anything else from Oklahoma. Well, maybe he misses the Sooners more, but he gets regular doses of them during football season.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know I'm enjoying your writing; keep it up!
