A "Dirty" Word - The First Step to Simplicity

Submission.

It saddens me to know that so many women hold to the cultural idea that submission is the negative byproduct of some sort of abuse be it physical, emotional or otherwise. What many people don't realize is that there is such a thing as willful submission. Jesus Christ willfully submitted to His Father's call for Him to come to earth, He also submitted Himself to the will of the Father in His work the Cross.

There's freedom in submission.

We are called to submit to the Lord, to our husbands, to our parents, to each other and to the government the Lord as appointed to reign over us.

When we submit to the Lord we are giving Him full control over our lives. We are essentially saying "Lord, I can't handle this! You know much better than I do what to do here. Take this life You've given me and do with it what You will!" He promises to take our yoke...to bear our burden...forgive our sins...bless us beyond measure....He has promised to FREE us from the bondage of this life.

"Christ has liberated us into freedom." Galatians 5:1(a)

Because of Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross, I am free.

I am also set free when my relationship with the Lord and husband are correct. I have the freedom to do what I need to do without being bothered or weighed down with things that are not my responsibility. I can care for my home, love my husband, love my son and serve the Lord with everything in me only when my relationship with God is in the right place.

There is also freedom when we submit to our husbands. They are the head of the home just as Christ is the head of the church. Our husbands have been appointed over us not to be domineering tyrants, but rather, our nurturer and protector. He is called to keep the direction of his family and household focused on Christ; grow them spiritually; as well as lead them in worship, prayer and Scripture.

Jesus, Meek and Gentle

Jesus, meek and gentle,
Son of God most high,
Gracious, loving Savior,
Hear Thy children’s cry.

Pardon our offenses,
Loose our captive chains,
Break down every idol
Which our soul detains.

Give us holy freedom,
Fill our hearts with love;
Draw us, holy Jesus,
To the realms above.

Lead us on our journey,
Be Thyself the way
Through our earthly darkness
To the heavenly day.

Jesus, meek and gentle,
Son of God most high,
Gracious, loving Savior,
Hear Thy children’s cry.
Hear Thy children’s cry.
