Things Considered

David and I have decided that it's time for our family to start doing ministry together. We're considering two options:

1. Relief Care for foster families. We'd basically be certified babysitters for families who take care of foster children. We can see how 24-36 hours with a foster child can have a major impact in their lives - especially if they have never seen a home with a mother AND a father who are Christians. The downside? We're most concerned about Ethan would react to the child coming in and visa versa, not to mention the financial aspect of entertaining a second child for 2 or 3 days. The plus side: we could witness to him or her not to mention praying for them specifically and possibly building relationships with the foster family!!!!

2. Apartment Life. With this ministry we would plan activities for the residents of an apartment community with the hope of building one on one relationships which could lead to sharing the Gospel. The program itself sounds like a GREAT idea and there are many many perks. David's main reservation is the amount of time he is away for work and the amount of time we'd need to invest in this ministry. The major plus (aside from being able to witness to people): FREE RENT for a 2/2 apartment!!

Essentially, we could do both. We have some concerns and reservations but still, they are both such great ministry opportunities. Please pray that the Lord would be clear with us regarding His will for these ministries.

Ooh! That sounds exciting. I will tell you from experience that ministering to others as a family can be very challenging, time-consuming, and revealing of our flesh! BUT there is NOTHING more fulfilling, and if you work through the issues together, you'll will be closer and know each other better (and have closer relationships with God!) because of it.

I will keep ya in my prayers! :)
