Appropriate?

I think not.

This little gem is on sale with at least 14 of her friends at my son's school. They are displayed in a sticker machine that features 6 different stickers you can "collect". This sticker machine is just inside the main entrance in front of the entrance to the principle's office.

Let's take a gooooood look at this sticker, shall we?

First off, what is she wearing?! It appears to a be a nude strapless bra and nude bikini cut undies. Why couldn't she wear a little tee shirt and shorts instead? It's going to get covered up by her dress up clothes anyway.

Second, do you like how seductively she's standing with her lasso? Considering with at least one of the outfits you won't even be able to see that she has one, is it really necessary.

Finally, let's take a look at those clothes. Notice the yellow top with the jean vest? Obviously it's supposed to go with the little jean skirt underneath it. I actually put these on this girl and the skirt is SO short and the top...well... She is basically busting out of the top. Oh, it just so happens to show off her midriff.

I discovered it a few months ago and I keep meaning to write a letter to the superintendent of the school district and also to the principal of my son's particular school but I just can't seem to get my ducks in a row.

Seriously, what are we trying to teach our kids? It's like we're trying to teach our girls that a lack of adequate clothing and sensuality are necessary to be considered beautiful. For our boys, should they REALLY be looking at that? Really? It's like we're trying to teach them how to objectify girls at a young young age.
Anyway.....

unfortunately, parents keep buying it, or letting their kids buy it.

This is wrong on sooo many levels. Having a girl and a boy, it's hard enough to teach her about modesty and keep him from noticing all the half naked girls in the world. I would NOT like this in my school, either!

Good for you for standing up for that! I agree it is very inappropriate. We are teaching girls to base their self worth on looking like that and teaching boys to be lustful. Thanks for posting. Even though it is discouraging to see that this is happening in our schools, it is encouraging to see a parent who is bold enough to stand up to this.

Oh...don't even get me started on this. I have two little girls and this kind of stuff plagues me on a daily basis.
