Weekend In Review

So I took Friday off of work because I think I've finally hit burn out. Seriously. WebMD said I was intoxicated and I don't even drink alcohol! Anyway...

Friday

The yard sale went REALLY well. Kate sold a bunch of cute stuff I was hoping to steal. I sold some old junk that I really hated. Not to mention we had some great food on the patio at Central Market.

That evening I made dinner for our friends, GJ and Jennifer, and then I found out on Sunday that GJ had been sick since Saturday. I really hope it's not food poisoning caused by my cooking! I'd feel SO bad. What's weird though is that 8 people all ate the same meal and everybody else is fine so maybe it's not food poisoning. Still though, I feel bad so I'm taking him a hunting magazine and some pepto this afternoon.

Saturday

The yard sale was very slow. Kate and I are convinced that it's because NASCAR was in town and most of the yard salers were out at Texas Motor Speedway enjoying themselves. At least some of our good friends stopped by to visit and Ethan was there so we stayed entertained.

That afternoon I went out to buy a digital camera. I thought I had found THE ONE, an Olympus Stylus 850SW (I know, the 1050 is shown but they look exactly alike). Anyway, I bought it from Wal-Mart for $299 thinking I was getting a steal but when I got home I double checked the price I paid to the price I found on the website. Turns out I paid $100 more at the store then I would have if I had just purchased it online.

I marched my semi-happy self right back into the store to see if they'd give me the difference but they said that they do not price match their prices from the internet; which is ridiculous to me since they price match their competitors. Anyway. I waited a good 45 minutes for them to refund me my money...and $200 of it was in 5 dollar bills.

I decided to wait and buy the same camera on the website and just have them ship it to the store.

That Evening

You know how we have that lock on the outside of Ethan's door? Well, David was out golfing with a friend of his and I was supposed to be meeting up with a couple of my friends to go shopping at IKEA....but then it happened.

I was on the phone talking to Kate about our shopping excursion and noticed that Ethan shut his bedroom door behind us after we walked in. I thought he just wanted to show me he "beautiful" mixed media artwork he compose out of marker and crayon on the back of the door but then I realized that he had actually locked us in his room. Nobody else was home and there was no telling how long it would be before David would get there to set us free.

Kate said she'd come over to let us out but I insisted that she take a shower first. Not that she was stinky or anything but so that we could leave right afterward for IKEA with Shayla. Then, about 20 minutes after I got off the phone with her David came home and set the captives free!

Freedom, glorious freedom.

IKEA was great as usual. I just love spending time with Kate and Shayla, even if Ethan completely shuns Kate and I when Shayla's around. We had such a good time.

Sunday

Church was great. David and Ethan got to sit in for the sermon and I served in the nursery. I served with a lady who I usually don't get along with very well but this time we did! We had a great time! It was really encouraging!

After church we met my in laws for lunch at Mooyah's. Very tasty stuff. Afterward, David and I went camera/Ethan shopping.

Ethan is officially out of toddler clothes! I can't believe my little guy is growing up. We bought him 2 pair of shoes, 5 or 6 shirts and 4 pair of shorts. That's kid's almost set for summer! Sadly, though, we had to move him up from extra small undies to just regular small undies. Do they really have to grow up?

Finally I settled on a Canon Powershot SD790 IS. I'm still learning everything about it but so far I LOOOOVE it! It's the perfect size and I love how sleek it looks. Pretty classy.

Once we get the computer up you'll get picture updates very often but until then you'll get them about once or twice a week. I can't wait to show you guys our lives not just tell you about it!

This purchase not only saved me LOTS of money compared to the other camera but it also satisfied one of my 101 things to do in 1001 days!!!

50. Buy a digital camera

I use the word 'great' too much.
