Resolutions and Tips

These aren't exactly New Years Resolutions but since I'm a girl who works best with lists, rules, guidelines and order....I'm going to list for you all my goals for this year and some tips to succeed.

1. Spend more time in the Word. I loved reading on Vicki Courtney's blog, Virtue Alert, about her new year's resolution from 10 years ago and how she has renewed this resolution every year since. She buys The One Year Bible and reads it through every year. Being the slacker that I am, I have never read the Bible all the way through. I'm thinking I'd like to adopt this resolution as my own.

2. Lose 80 lbs. I know I can't do this in a year but I need to at least get on the right track. I need to learn how to manage the food I eat (what it is and how much); I need to focus on staying active (no more CSI marathons); and I need to get my doctor's help (at least for accountability). I have discovered, thanks to Kate, Eat Better America. This website has taken my faves and made them healthy! Also, I need to find a friend at the gym I am a member of to hold me accountable. Oh, and I am SO thankful for my weight loss buddy, Heather - you guys swing by there and leave her some love!

Also, can I mention how humblin' it is to put how much weight I actually need to lose on here. Sometimes I wish I could go back and just pretend that I'm not overweight...but, I am so I need to face it head on and beat it - with the Lord's help!

3. Re-organize my home! I used to be uber organized and I don't know what happened!! I am loving Home Made Simple for help in this area! That site helps with everything from organizing finances to simplifying your laundry routine - not to mention beating clutter and procrastination. This weekend I am planning on tackling some major organizational tasks. Wish me luck...or better yet, pray for me.

4. Save money for down payment/deposit. This year we plan to pay off the little bit of debt we still owe (aside from the Jeep) and save up for either a down payment or a deposit on a home. Whether we buy or rent - we really hope to move out of our tiny 2 bedroom apartment and into something with 3 bedrooms and a yard. Oh, and a more convenient living space. I think we're going to seek help from a budget coach through Crown Financial Ministries. I am all for any company that seeks to honor God!

So what are your goals for this year?

Do you have any GREAT tips or websites you can add to mine?

Hey AJ (you're new name!)..

I've been using SPARKPEOPLE.COM to track calories, excercise, etc. I thought it was going to be tedious and I would give up but it's not like that at all! It's actually a challenge to see how many calories I have left at the end of the day! they also have good articls to read, forums, etc. It's fun, check it out..

But stick with it - it's a daunting task for sure whether it's 8 lbs or 80 lbs. but you can do it. If you really stick with it you may be able to do it in a year... 1.5 to 2 lbs a week? It's possible.... Next year at this time you could be a new woman!! Woohoo!!

YOU GO GIRL! I'm praying for you...

Hi there! I found your blog through the My Husband Rocks Blogroll. Your resolutions look very similar to my goals for the year. Here are my main resources:

On Being Frugal: America's Cheapest Family, The Tightwad Gazette, thefrugalgirl.com

On Getting Clean/Organized: flylady.net

Hope that helps! :)

I would highly recommend Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University... you know that one right?

AS far as the rest goes... I am right there with you! If you would like to know about the power of food... try visiting mercola.com. Do a search on broccoli or a veggie you like and just watch as the articles come up about it!

One other things... I would consider a no processed sugar no starch diet for Ethan. Try mercola's nutritional typing method and see what would work best.

Just hu,or me and check him out!

God bless yoU!
Amanda
