A New Salute

Let me make it clear that first and foremost my allegiance is to Jesus Christ the Lord. I felt that this following pledge would best describe my attitude at this point in time with regard to the outcome of the election. Despite whoever our president is, we should still be committed to standing in honor, respect, dignity and most of all integrity!

I am a citizen of the United States of America,
and I hereby pledge myself to live my life to the
glory of my country.

I will be honest, because my country has no need
of a thief.

I will speak the the truth, because my country
has no need of a liar.

I will be brave, because my country has no need
of a coward.

I will work and not beg, because my country has
no need of an idler.

I will be one to prove my country the greatest nation
on earth in industry, wisdom, honor and goodness.

- Author Unknown (this was a newspaper cut-out found in an old book called "Bible Readings for the Home" published in 1949)

Let's commit to being respectful of our new president whether or not we agree with him or his policies. After all, he is the president and that is an office worthy of respect (shame on us and especially the media for not being respectful of President Bush).

However, we as Christians must never abandon the principles and law that our Lord has set before us. Now, more than ever, we need to fight and pray for strong Christian values to overcome our nation despite who the leaders are.

Finally, let's pray for the souls of the ones leading our country. If they are already Christians pray that the Lord would change their minds about their values that contradict the Bible, pray that they would be convicted of sins and pray that the Lord would grow them in their faith. If they are not already Christians pray that the Lord would save their souls and that there would be a strong Christian there ready to help them grow in their faith.

We need to have strength and faith in these days ahead. And don't forget...it's only four years!

So be it.

May we be found faithful.

I like the pledge you posted. But don't forget Daniel 4:17. I truly believe God puts certain people in leadership and His will, will be done.

I saw your comment on Holly's blog, and just wanted to pop over to share some completely irrelevant trivia with you.

You and I share the exact same first and middle name (Amanda Jo). I've never seen anyone else with my name, so I wanted to stop by to say hello.

Many blessings-
