If the Lord wills...

Today I am just going to pour out some of the stuff that's been on my heart...get ready, it's going to be random!

~ I love what the Lord is doing in my life right now. I can feel him molding me into the woman He wants me to be. It is uncomfortable most of the time because it's not what my flesh wants but I know that He knows what is best for me.

As you all know, I have been reading Worldliness and Feminine Appeal. They are fantastic books, check them out if you haven't already. Anyway, through both of these books I am seeing that my priorities are completely out of whack. For example, without any prompting I thought to myself "Oh, good! It's Monday, The Big Bang Theory comes on tonight."

As a Christian, wife and mother my heart should not be more excited about a 30 minute television program (that will yield no Biblical growth, whatsoever) rather than spending time with my Lord and serving my husband and son. While I am not against watching TV or having a little "mommy time", I need to keep my mind focused on the Lord and what He would have me spend my time on.

It's so easy to fall into rebellion or be deceived by sin's attractiveness! I am doing a study in Hebrews for my QTs right now and last night I read this passage that I feel speaks perfectly to what I'm learning/struggling with:

12 Watch out, brothers, so that there won't be in any of you an evil,
unbelieving heart that departs from the living God. 13 But encourage each other
daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin's
deception. (G) - Hebrews 3:12-13

We must constantly be on the look out for the different snarls Satan uses and the stumbling blocks our flesh cannot withstand. We need to avoid these stumbling blocks and snarls while seeking encouragement from each other. I know I have a tendency to recognize the Holy Spirit's prompting in regard to a certain activity but, sadly, I blow it off thinking that's it's really not a big deal. That is where I have fallen into sin's deception: sin IS a big deal. It's a REALLY big deal.

Today, I want to encourage all of you reading this to heed to promptings of the Holy Spirit! He is a gift from God the Father as the guarantee for our inheritance to come as well as our Teacher and Comforter. One way God has shown His grace to us is by using the Holy Spirit to convict us of our sins and He gives us the strength to repent and change.

2. I would like to ask you all to pray for the women's ministry at my church whenever the Lord brings it to your mind. Lately, I have been feeling a stronger call from the Lord to grow this ministry. I would love to see the women of my church...all the women...young, old, single, married, children, no children....come to worship God in all that they do!

It saddens me to see a watering down of Biblical womanhood...or, rather, most churches ignoring it. Women, our jobs are to honor and worship God first and foremost, honor and serve our husbands and then serve our children. Our culture (and many churches) worries so much about women and our "self worth" but the Bible is clear that we find our worth in Jesus Christ because He first saw worth in us and called us into fellowship with Him.

3. Kate has a great new article out on Blissfully Domestic, go check it out!

....and that's about it for today....

Thanks for sticking with me.

Those are wonderful and amazing thoughts and yeah you for your honesty. I often look forward to TV shows, knowing full well the depths of their deception in my life. A very good reminder Miss Amanda!
And many prayers for your ministry and your own spiritual growth in HIm!

God bless-
Amanda

Hey! I was actually reading that verse this week too! :) The part that got me was "encourage one another...SO THAT none of you will be hardened by sin's deceitfulness." It made me think about how encouragement helps us to be stronger in the face of temptation. I should step up and encourage others more...especially my husband... How awesome to think that words of encouragement could help protect marriages from Satan's schemes!
