100 Things About Me

The Younger Years (1-10)
1. Lived half a mile away from Lake Tenkiller in Oklahoma

2. Spent my days playing in the woods and swimming in the lake

3. One time I got in trouble for re-burying all the potatoes my family just harvested.

4. I got stung on the tongue while sitting on the propane tank waiting for my family to finish picking blackberries

5. My favorite snack was green beans fresh off the vine

6. Had to ride the bus for over an hour to get home from school

7. My grandpa's first language was Cherokee

8. The land I grew up on was the same land that my ancestors settled on after the Trail of Tears...we still own it

9. I used to wake up in the morning and eagerly look outside to see if my parents built a horse stable while I slept. They never did

10. My grandpa convinced me that sharks lived in Lake Greenleaf to keep me from asking to swim in it...now that I am older I can understand why - that lake is a very nasty green!!!

Junior High (11-20)
1. Moved to Rogers, Arkansas

2. Loved alternative music: Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Bush (ahhh, Gavin Rossdale...)

3. Recently found out that a guy I work with (in Texas) also went to Elmwood Jr. High (in Rogers) the same years I did....and somehow I knew him. Neither of us remember this friendship. Haha.

4. I once got in trouble for sneaking out of the house at 5 in the morning to go on a paper route with the cute guys from next door and across the street. The sad thing is, I remember asking my parents if I could go...and they said yes. Guess you shouldn't ask your parents questions at 5 in the morning.

5. I started to learn how to cross stitch.

6. Went to my first concert: Smash Mouth and Sugar Ray

7. Met the woman who would become my AMAZING step-mom. She was my third grade teacher! I wasn't thrilled at the time but now I wouldn't trade her for ANYTHING! Seriously.

8. Earned the nickname "Freight Train" in club softball. If I am running the bases and you're standing on it...I'm running you over. That's just how it's supposed to be done.

9. Still have scars in the shape of laces on my shins from stopping line drives with my body. I'm hardcore...well, I used to be.

10. Met my friend Sara...we're still friends! 15 years and counting. She's getting married in January and it's going to be FANCY!

High School (21-30)
1. Moved to Arlington, Texas.

2. Met Kate...somehow.

3. Played softball for 1 year and quit after a confrontation with unfair coaches.

4. I was involved in technical theatre, PALS (a volunteering group), Diversity Dialogue (a group that worked to ease racial tension in the school) and something else...but I can't remember what...haha, it's been too long!

5. I drove a teal 1992 Pontiac Grand Am, two door. It was awesome and very teal. We called it Radio Bueno because after my amazing cd player was stolen I hooked the old one back up but couldn't get it back in the dash so it hung there and a sticker on it said, "Radio Bueno".

6. Loved the music of: Beastie Boys, Beck, Eve6, Everclear, Our Lady Peace, Backstreet Boys, Oleander

7. Worked over 15 shows including: Fiddler on the Roof, Young Frankenstein, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, Barefoot in the Park, Words Words Words, Arsenic and Old Lace and Annie Get Your Gun

8. Got my first job as an activity director for an Alzheimer's Home

9. Went to many many concerts: Matchbox 20, Everclear, Dave Matthews Band (twice), Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers

10. Thought I was a Christian...I talked about it, "read" the Bible and even claimed to have the good morals of a Christian. I was a lost duck and didn't know it.

College (31-40)
1. Went to the University of North Texas and majored in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Technical Theatre

2. I didn't have a roommate for the first month...then I paid for it with very smelly and rude roommate

3. I worked at Banana Republic while going to school

4. Went to UNT with my best friend (at the time) from high school, JimBob.

5. Was "broken up" with (we weren't really ever dating officially) because the guy, who will remain nameless, was afraid I would "become less manly". I kid you not, folks! I'm not even that much of a tomboy...seriously!

6. Fell in love with rock climbing

7. Lost the poor old Grand Am to old age and lack of maintenance

8. I only got to go for one semester...the Lord had other plans for me

9. By faith, through grace, the Lord saved me from my sins and their consequences!

10. Moved in with my aunt and uncle when I went back to my hometown.

Randoms
41. Met my husband while we both worked at Wal-Mart (not my favorite job ever)

42. I love to clean and organize

43. At this moment there is a blimp flying (or is it floating) over DFW airport. I have a clear view of the airport from my desk.

44. I have the best job in the world.

45. I am sad that it wasn't until Kristi moved half a world away that we became good friends.
Why can't you come back to Texas, can't the Vienna Philharmonic move to Ft. Worth?

46. I fall more and more in love with knowing God each day.

47. I am constantly amazed at His justice and grace. How beautifully they go together!

48. I tried carrot cake for the first time yesterday - you can't taste the carrot and it doesn't count as a vegetable so why bother? It was tasty though...

49. I love dill pickles.

50. I hate doing laundry. Why can't it clean itself?

Stay tuned for the other half....maybe tomorrow.....or later today, who knows.

Wow, you lived in Rogers! We are headed to Fayetteville to see the hubby's family, next Tuesday. So amazing! I'm enjoying your DFW weather. Too bad it will get cold here soon.

God Bless!
