Picture this: Saturday morning. A cool but comfortable and not at all humid, 75 degrees outside. Tasty Starbucks coffee in hand. Lots of moola for garage sales (I think this is where the dream starts to break down). Top down. Blaring our garage sale-ing music (hits from the 80s and 90s, cause we're cool like that). Rollin' up and being the envy of the neighborhood. Sweet.
I first fell in love with Chevelles after meeting a girl in high school who drove one. It was pretty sweet. Ever since then, I wanted to be cool just like her and drive one too. Don't you love this green with the racing stripes? I bet it's nice on the inside. I wonder though, can you get satellite radio installed in one of these puppies? My birthday's around the corner and I'm hoping that my hubs will take this hint. Probably not though, especially since he's not interested in reading my blog. I guess he figures he knows all about what I'd say on here cause I probably talked his ear off about it for an hour last night.
Anywho.
I guess I'll stick with my mom-car until Ethan graduates and heads off for college. Then, I'll be the coolest old lady on the block in my 71 Chevelle Convertible with satellite radio. (ok, ok, not old, if things go as planned I'll be 38 when he goes to college)
Seriously though, I've had my Jeep Compass since November and I love it just as much as I did the day I drove it home. I haven't named it yet, I want to though. I thought about Gertrude, until my mother in law introduced me to her best friend, Gertrude.

Do you guys have any suggestions for great names for my rugged little mom car? She looks just like this one but with Texas plates. (she'd look better with Oklahoma plates)
I really do believe cars have different "personalities". This one is laid back, especially compared to my old Stratus. Ol' Stratty was very high strung. Not my Jeep here, she takes her sweet ol' time getting everywhere and doesn't fret about a little (or a lot) of dirt and bugs on her; she's a Jeep after all.
So, have at it, name my car.
I should make this a giveaway, but how? I'd want to pick the best name and have the suggester be the winner but I don't want to seem to show favoritism. Oh, and then there's the matter of prizes. I'd give away a Jeep key chain and then what?
I did promise to do a giveaway for my 100th post. I'm at like 109 now and I still haven't said anything. It'd be a pretty random one at that.
Let me think of a few things I'd have in my giveaway:
Jeep Key chain (naturally)
Bible Dictionary and Concordance (cause I want you to grow spiritually)
Living the Cross Centered Life book (gotsta pay it forward, right Leigh!?)
Some fun and vintagey finds - they'd be a surprise of course
Something hand embroidered by yours truly (don't have high expectations please)
and some other things that I can't think of right now.
Ok, so I think I've figured out what I'll do here:
1. Post your suggestion for a name for my Jeep to enter (1 entry)
2. Put a link on your blog back to here for an extra entry (total of two)
3. Contest will end one week from today, so that would be August 21st
4. The namer of my Jeep will not necessarily be who would win the contest, it is simply how you enter the contest. Your name will go into a hat and Ethan will randomly choose the name of the winner, Kate should take pictures for me so you all can make sure it was random and fair.
Ok, now I'm nervous, I'm hosting a giveaway and I don't want it to be a dud. Oh, and check out the poll, you have a week to get your vote in!

Name: Ma'ma Cass
There's something about the 'bright eyes' of your jeep, on the larger frame that make me think of Cass Elliot. Stunning but not in a classing way, ready to get her hands durty, bright eyed but with a deep intelectual humor, energetic but patient.
I'll be sure to get a post back to your page by the end of the day. Hope you find the right name.
PS, the chev is awesome!
i think, Cecelia for your jeep is fitting, my cousins granny was named cecelia she was a strong black grandma who did it all, humming to herself all the way.
Angie --That's the first name that came into my head so I'll go with it.
Oh. My. GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My dream car is a 1971 Chevelle, black with a white racing stripe. I have a picture of it on my wall in the office. I even put one in the book I wrote. That's it. I'm convinced, we were seperated at birth.
So that's my name suggestions. Call your jeep Chevelle in honor of the most beautiful car in the world. :)
Okay so I say you go with......
Eloise.
I dunno why. Thats what came to mind.
wow! how fun! my family's all about same first letters (Katy, Kindra, Kell, the dog is Kopper) and so's Austin's (Austin Jay and Ashley Jo), so I'm thinking something like Jessi the Jeep or Jillian the Jeep (names of two special ladies in my life who seem a lot like your Jeep, laid back and easy going, great to be with) and of course when you're talking to her, you wouldn't call her ____ the Jeep, just by the first name. :) so fun! congratulations on your 109th post, lol!
and i made a little button out of your header to put on my giveaway page! you're at the very top! :)
ok, ok, I'll give it a shot. Martha. How 'bout that? lol
Ooh, or Myrtle.
Those names remind me of Gertrude. all of them are my grandma's (& great gma's) names.
