attempt! I've decided to just dive right on into what's been going on in
my life lately.
Teaching our children about Jesus Christ is the most important job of the parents - not of the church. The church's ministries should be used only as reinforcements for what you're teaching at home. I used to get very excited about Children's Church and Nursery and RAs, GAs and Mission Friends because they meant about an hour for me to have a break - they are all good ministries, don't get me wrong, but they are used for the wrong reasons by overwhelmed parents. There needs to be a shift to discipling the parents on how to raise their children to be "worthy of the Gospel" so that they (the parents) go home and actually put it to work.
My husband and I have started to live by these words and have come to realize that it all starts with us, the parents, and our home. Here are some questions that we've asked ourselves:
- Are we where we should be with the Lord?
- Are we living in sin?
- Are we repentant of the sin in our lives?
- Are we talking the talk but not walking the walk?
- Are we showing him a pattern of faith in God?
- How about obedience to God?
- Are we showing them how to pray and the importance of reading the Word of God?
- Are we explaining to him what sin is and how it separates us from God?
- How about what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross and that He is the only way to have forgiveness?
